Telephony Service

The "Telephony services" module is build up around a high performance’s digital VoIP PBX, which, besides the usual functions found on standard PBX (call management, call forwarding, multi-conference, IVR, ...), provides a rich set of more advanced features (voice messages sent by e-mail, integrated fax, access to account configurations and consumptions via Web, and so on). To deploy the COMMS MUNDI’s VoIP PBX it is necessary to acquire the packs: “Basic system” and this “Telephony service”.

The main advanced features present on the VoIP PBX are listed below:

Advanced an unlimited call routes’ programming. The capacity of COMMS MUNDI to program call routes (through POTS and ISDN lines, mobile networks and VoIP operators) is practically nonexistent in other equipment, even of high range.

Connection to VoIP operators (VoipBuster, terrasip, …), which allows important cost savings.

Call routing to mobile phones through GSM modules controlled by the PBX function.

High quality’s videoconference. By means of a simple webcam, a PC and a softphone nomadic and remote workers can establish videoconferences with any other employee or clients.

Integrated fax (T.38).

Automatic fax discrimination. When an incoming fax signal is detected, the system automatically redirects this call to the internal line where the fax machine is connected.

Access to configuration and telephony consumption via Web.

Advanced VoIP PBX

External lines (Telco trunks)
  • Admits any combination of POTS and ISDN (BRI and E1/T1/J1) lines, cellular networks and VoIP operators.
  • Auto detects a large number of analogue and ISDN (BRI and PRI) cards. Ask for an updated list of compliant telephony cards.
  • Allows connection of external GSM modules.
Internal voice lines (Extensions)
  • Admits VoIP devices (telephone sets and videophones) that directly connect to the data network (Ethernet).
  • Admit connection of analogue devices (telephones and fax machines) and ISDN telephone sets by means of the corresponding adapters (known as ATA for analogue devices).
  • Admits PCs with softphone (application that converts a desktop or laptop PC into a voice or video phone).

Owing to all telephone sets and adapters are IP devices, the number of internal voice lines does not depend on the availability of connection ports or allocated IP addresses, so the maximum number of internal lines is almost unlimited. This number will mainly depend on the basic configuration chosen, type of call being carried out (POTS, ISDN, VoIP, and video telephony), compression algorithm used and data functions usage.

Session protocols and signaling
SIP/RTP, IAX2, T38/UDPTL

Codecs
Voice codecs: G.711 (A y µ Laws), iLBC, GSM, G.726 RFC3551, G.729 (G.723 by request with additional charge), ADPCM, 16 bit Signed Linear PCM, LPC10.
Video codecs: H.261, H.263, H.263+ y H.264 (only pass-through).

VoIP PBX’s advanced functions
COMMS MUNDI's advanced VoIP PBX provides all the functions usually found in analogue or digital PBXs along with others more advanced:
  • Huge and powerful possibilities to route calls
  • Caller ID displays. Blocks caller ID on incoming or outgoing calls
  • Unconditional or conditional (on busy, no answer or out of reach) call forwarding to either voicemail or phone number
  • Announced and unannounced call transfers
  • Call waiting
  • Music on hold and during call trnasfers
  • Three way calling
  • Call groups / Pickup groups
  • Several conference rooms with high number of attendants
  • Voicemail. Voice messages can be read from phone sets, via Web browser or e-mail. Voice messages can be sent by e-mail
  • Automatic fax discrimination and programmable routing to a fax, independently of the outgoing line (either internal or external). It is possible to redirect an incoming fax to several machines depending on the programmed conditions (call source or destination number, time schedule, first free fax machine,...)
  • Internal fax. An incoming fax is decoded and sent to its internal destination as an attachment to an e-mail message, or viceversa
  • Fax over IP (T.38), to send or receive faxes through VoIP trunks
  • Call barring based on dial plan rules
  • Interactive Voice Response (IVR). Programming of routes and recording of synthetic messages. Definition of multiple IVRs, which can be chained. Time programming (by day, night ...), and so on.
  • DISA (Direct Inward System Access). Routing of an incoming call to another external destination. The access to DISA functionality is protected with a key code (PIN)
  • Call routing based on time criteria. Definition of time periods (day, week, month, year, hours and minutes)
  • Call Detail Record (CDR). Time and rate usage. Access to user accounts configuration and consumption information via Web
  • Presence watcher. Indication of internal extension status (free, calling, busy)
  • Sound library (music on hold, IVR’s menus and general purpose and user sounds). Accept both formats: .MP3 and .WAV
  • Customised management of the sound library
  • Alternative sound recording through any telephone set belonging to any extension
  • Activation of telephony services (call forwarding, voicemail management ...) by means of telephone keys combination. Definition and modification of the codes assigned to each function
  • Function activation (execution of certain IVR, activating DISA, playing sound files, listen to voicemail messages...) when dialling specific numbers
  • Video telephony (internal and through Internet)
  • Automated attendant with modifiable menus and actions (via IVR)
  • Compatible with the vast majority of VoIP devices that comply with the standardised SIP protocol
  • Safe VoIP communications via VPNs
